Mark Hamill’s Touching Tribute To Carrie Fisher: ‘We’d Make Out Like A Couple Of Horny Teenagers… I Did Fall In Love With Her’
This will make you emotional.
Luke Skywalker himself hosted ‘Mark Hamill’s Tribute To Carrie Fisher’ at the event, celebrating Princess Leia and the genre-defining actress who brought her to life.
Speaking on stage in Orlando, he recalled making the first ever Star Wars movie, A New Hope, with her 40 years ago:
“I didn’t want to share her with Harrison, I didn’t want to share her with anyone. But at the same time as attracted aa I was to her I thought, I didn’t want her as a girlfriend… The dangerous thing about this profession is if a relationship goes south, you might have two three four seasons with someone who cant stand you.”
He added, “I tried to resist every impulse - and part of me did fall in love with her - every guy that she met, she had you under her spell”
Speaking of a relationship between the two co-stars, he revealed, “Sometimes we wanted to go in that direction, on the pretext of talking about kissing techniques: I’d say ‘Oh I’m a pretty good kisser you know,’ and she’d say ‘I think I’m a better kisser!’ Cut to us making out on the couch like a couple of horny teenagers.”
“At some point we'd both start laughing. And believe me it kills your passion if someone’s laughing in your face.”
“We dodged a bullet there. A relationship that’s so passionate, it has to fizzle out. There was something about the original film that will always be special. We were babes in the woods, we didn’t know what would happen.”
In his emotional tribute, Hamill said, “There’s never a day I don’t think of her. And when I think of her, she’s looking down from the celestial stratosphere with those big brown eyes, that wry smile on her face, as she lovingly extends me the middle finger... that’s our princess.”
