Mark Ruffalo To 'Star Wars' Director: ‘Call Me’

‘Avengers’ star makes casting plea to ‘Episode VIII’ helmer Rian Johnson...

Having friends in high places is great, but it is it enough to score a role in an upcoming 'Star Wars' film? Mark Ruffalo certainly hopes so.
In an interview with Collider, the 'Avengers' star revealed he made a personal plea to 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' director Rian Johnson for a role in the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster...any role.

Ruffalo and Johnson previously worked together in the film 'Brothers Bloom'.
Asked if he had approached his friend about a part, Ruffalo responded "Desperately. My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, “Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in 'Star Wars', please, anything, please consider considering me to join you."

[related]"I love hanging out with Rian so that’s interesting to me but I would like a role," he added.
Johnson, who previously helmed the sci-fi actioner 'Looper', is responsible for the second instalment in the new 'Star Wars' saga, following J.J. Abrams' film. It is scheduled for a 2017 release.
Ruffao stars as Dr. Bruce Banner, otherwise known as the Incredible Hulk, in the 'Avengers' films. He also recently received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the HBO original movie 'The Normal Heart'.
With all that acting talent, even a walk-on role in ‘Star Wars’ seems attainable. Here’s hoping!
