A Star Wars Fan Has Spent An OBSCENE Amount Of Cash On A Stormtrooper Helmet

C 'mon, how much could a plastic hat from the 70s really be worth?

Thought the 'Star Wars' hype machine couldn't reach a higher levelof crazy?

WRONG.

One mega-fan has taken his obsession to a whole new level.

According to Yahoo, a Stormtrooper helmet from'The Empire Strikes Back' hasfetched an eye-watering £78,000 at auction.

£78,000.

That's, like... well, it's a LOT of money.

The sought-after piece (a MK II design) came from a super rare,privately-owned collection of trooper helmets that appeared in the movie. Admittedly it's seen better days - well, what else would you expect from a prop that's over 35 years old?! - with some cracks and discolouration, but that didn't stop someone from shelling out almost £100,000 for the plastic prop.

Other things people spent a ridiculous amount of money on included a blaster gun, which went for a jaw-dropping£23,000.

Is it just us, or is this minted buyer a teeny bitinsane?

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', starring Daisy Ridley,John Boyega, andAdam Driver, hitscinemas onThursday 17th December.
