Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Would Be Up For An Obi-Wan Spin-Off
So that sounds promising.
After a weekend jam-packed with Star Wars news, Ewan McGregor has dropped one more tidbit for us, revealing that if an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie were to happen, he’d be bang up for picking up the lightsaber one more time.
Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy hinted at the weekend that the next Star Wars Anthology film might be announced this summer, but there’s no concrete info that the spin-off will focus on Obi-Wan. Still, the rumour mill has him down as odds-on favourite, and McGregor has duly answered the inevitable questions about a potential return…
“There’s no official offer, and I haven’t met them about it or anything,” said McGregor, “but I’ve always said that I’d be happy to do it if they wanted to do it. It would be a good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes. I think they’ve got films to make until the 2020s, so I don’t think it’s going to happen soon if it happens at all.”
As McGregor points out, we’ve got Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the new Han Solo movie, and probably another episode of the main saga to get through before we come to the next Anthology movie, but still… we’d love to see it happen! In the meantime, the countdown continues to Episode VIII, which hits our screens on 15 December 2017.
