A new flick will be released every year, starting with Episode VII...
The Force will be withStar Warsfans every summer starting in 2015.
During a presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Walt Disney Studios chairman Zack Snyder would write a spin-off Star Wars movie "loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic Seven Samurai," though he has since denied those claims.
J.J. Abrams has been tapped to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, which is written by Michael Arndt. Abrams recently opened up about his approach to the movie during an interview with Empire.
"We're just getting started," he said. "There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me, ['Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' are] not that dissimilar. Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of 'Ooh, that's really exciting.'
"And even though I was never a 'Star Trek' fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think 'That's cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that.' "
