Which England Football Legend Was Rejected By Star Wars?
Former goal machine failed to make the grade as a Stormtrooper...
There may no longer be a formal height requirement to join the police force in the UK, but JJ Abrams runs a tighter (space)ship on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
As Arsenal and England goal-scoring legend Ian Wright found out when he tried to blag a cameo appearance as a Stormtrooper - but was rejected for being too short.
The 51-year-old former footballer, who now works as a TV presenter, revealed during a BBC Radio 5 Live phone in that he had been hoping to sneak on screen in the eagerly awaited movie - but saw his dreams crushed.
"You have to be 5ft 11in and I was too short," Wrighty explained. "Two of my friends got to do it."
We told you yesterday how actor John Boyega had answered racist critics following his appearance as a Stormtrooper in the teaser trailer.
Incidentally, Boyega is listed on IMDb as being 5ft 9in tall - the same height as Ian Wright.
