The R&B star will participate in the 10km walkathon around Central Park...
As the Foundation’s 2012 Ambassador, Hilson will participate in the 10km walkathon around the illustrious Central Park and take steps to raise money and awareness around the mission of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.
For more than ten years, the Foundation has been relentless in its commitment to encourage, energise, and empower young leaders around the world who are involved in HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention campaigns.
Speaking of the campaign, Hilson said: “I’ve met such amazing young people in their inspirational mission to break taboos, foster tolerance, and spread the message of HIV protection in their local communities,
“I am honoured in my capacity as Ambassador of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to take part in such a great initiative, and I encourage everyone to help in some way – come out and join me or donate at www.stayingalivefoundation.org on behalf of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation!”
A series of four exclusive videos featuring Keri encouraging her fans to walk with her and donate will launch today on the MTV Staying Alive Foundation website, as well as MTV Voices - MTV’s international pro-social platform.
All donations will be split between the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and 2012 AIDS Walk organiser GMHC, a not-for-profit, volunteer-supported, and community-based organisation committed to national leadership in the fight against AIDS.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Keri lead our first MTV AIDS Walk team,” said Georgia Arnold, Executive Director of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility at Viacom International Media Networks.
She added: “Keri’s participation is a true testament to her dedication and passion to do more to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, and we are honoured to have such an exceptional Ambassador this year.”
