Raye
Getting the day off to an AMAZING start, Raye came onto second stage wearing full England kit, getting the crowd dancing with all her hits.
She delivered an amazing performance of ‘Cigarette’ and we were absolutely IN LOVE.
Raye unveiled her new single 'Friends' LIVE to the crowd and it was something else.
It was truly a beautiful start to the day.
Big Shaq
Mans not hot. Except mans was hot oh my days it was so hot at 1 PM when big shaq came onto the second stage.
Michael Dapaah performed his entire set as Big Shaq, including the hits ‘Man Don’t Dance’ and, of course, ‘Man’s Not Hot’.
6LACK
6LACK (pronounced 'black') came on stage amidst the 2pm heat to bring some more fire to the crowd.
He brought out his hits from Free 6LACK such as ‘Ex calling’ as well as newer bangers like ‘OTW’ – all of which were delivered powerfully.
He was accompanied by live piano which created a unique slowed down intro into his track ‘Free’ and added so much to the live performance of the song.
Of course, the Atlanta rapper got the crowd hyped when he dropped his massive track 'PRBLMS'.
Avelino
Whilst 6lack was holding down the mainstage, Avelino was tearing up the Pepsi Max stage with an absolutely fire performance.
He played some huge tracks like his recently released ‘Boasy’ and ‘London’s Calling’ and it was hoooot.
England V Sweden
And so at 2:55 PM all music stopped at Wireless Fest 18.
The ENTIRE festival crowded towards the mainstage for the spectacle. With pints in hand the stage was temporarily transformed into a giant outdoor pub, all to watch England duke it out with Sweden in the 2018 World Cup Quarter Finals.
And… IT’S COMING HOME. We’re in the semis and EVERYONE went mad. Even our own presenter Tyler West was out in the crowds celebrating!
Backstage too, Big Shaq confirmed “It’s done. It’s coming home.”
Krept X Konan
The crowd was SO ready after Englands 2-0 win to Sweden to take us into the Semi-finals, everyone backstage was cheering and hugging, and in front of the mainstage too moods were at an all-time high.
So, of course, Krept X Konan run onto the stage waving three lions England flags to their hit ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ and it was SOMETHING ELSE. It’s Konan home. (Authors note: we apologise in advance for that awful pun)
The hype didn’t stop there, after that they brought Mostack onto stage with them to perform ‘Crepes and Cones (Ya Dun Know)’
https://twitter.com/realmostack/status/1015725449756979200?s=19
They put on quite the show, banging their track ‘Freak Of The Week’ and then mixing it into Rihanna’s ‘Work’, before bring in it back to their own song.
The crowds went absolutely wild, it was something else.
French Montana
It was French Montana’s first time at wireless and he pulled all the stops. He came out iconically rocking a Gucci headband and, just shortly after the victory against Sweden, an England shirt with “French” as the name on the back.
French pulled out bop after bop, including his track with Stefflon Don ‘Hurtin’ Me’ which was something else.
Of course, he let loose ‘No Shopping’, his track with Drake, as well as ‘Unforgettable’ which drove the crowd absolutely wild – and he finished in acapella freestyling "Shout out to London too".
He was king of hyping up the crowd, sliding seamlessly into his own tracks from crowd pleasers like the intro to ‘Bump N Grind’ – “My minds telling me nooooo”, and “You gon make me lose my mind” from DMX’s ‘Party Up’.
French also went on to pay tribute to the late Avicci after his tragic passing in April this year.
Migos
Quavo, Offset and Takeoff burst onto stage with a set of back to back bangers – and somehow despite the heat, Quavo managed to perform in a massive red puffer jacket. It was hot and it was fire.
As the sun set on the festival they got the crowd riled up with ‘T-Shirt’
They pulled out allllll the bangers – from 'Walk It Talk It' with Drake to ‘Bad and Boujee’ they had the crowd going absolutely wild.
And you’ll never believe it but - Madonna was there watching too. This comes after the trio posed for a music video outside her house, and since then she must have become a fan!
Stormzy
The one and only Stormzy appeared on the stage amongst literal fire (cannons) to perform a set filled with bops, bangers, and his more gospel orchestral pieces – all of which he delivered immaculately. It was something to behold.
He told the crowd that this was the biggest set he had ever done, and his “first time headlining a festival like this”.
Of course, he too was excited by the win and had the crowd chanting “It’s coming home” after joking that was going to do an acapella. That said – he then went onto perform an acapella for the crowd and really showed off his talent!
On top of that he pulled out bops like his verse on Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’.
He pulled out some older tracks too like ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’ as well as ‘Wicked Skengman 4’ and went on to bring on children backup dancers, telling the story:
“I me them last year, they came to an album signing in Manchester and just started dancing and they were phenomenal. I said I’d use ‘em for a video but it got cancelled so I’m bringing them out at Wireless!
Pulling out ‘Know Me From’ drove the crowd absolutely WILD.
What’s more he paid tribute to JHus who “couldn't be here” so he rapped along to a JHus mashup in including ‘Friendly’, ‘Fisherman’ and ‘Did You See’.
Stormzy had a host of special guests too – he brought on Krept X Konan for a joint performance to perform ‘Ask Flipz’ and after that brought on Ghetts for their track ‘Bad Boys’.
The show was one of epic proportions and Stormy held absolutely nothing back as he delivered the performance of a lifetime – ending on ‘Shut Up’.
