Denise Van Outen Answers Strictly Criticism
She insists ballroom is completely different to her dancing experience...
The TV presenter and actress was specifically answering criticism from Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans over her inclusion in the BBC talent show.
He had said: "Isn't it a story of aspiration from the beginning, the seeds of learning whether you do or don't have two left feet, to perhaps better yourself and becoming good if not better than you ever thought you could be?"
But DVO hit back at Chris in a post on her own website.
"I have to say that I was quite upset at the criticism that I've come under from the press about my involvement with the show due to my previous dance experience," she wrote.
"Secondly, I am not the only competitor that has appeared in the show that has had basic training. This competition is not musical theatre, it is ballroom, and this is a world that I am in NO way familiar with.
"Ballroom is totally different. Firstly I have never danced with a partner, you have to be in sync, remember your footings etc. These are things that I've never had to do in my career so far and this is a massive challenge for me."
Meanwhile her rival Dani Harmer has been forced to deal with criticism of her weight from Twitter users.
She tweeted: "Hate on me as much as you like! But I like being curvy! #ShakeWhatYourMummaGaveYa."
And a fan tweeted in support: "Too right and there's nothing of you, you're a size 6 to 8! Grrrrrr it makes me soooo mad."
To which former Tracy Beaker actress Dani responded: "Oh I know! No wonder there's so many girls that feel insecure!"
The Strictly live shows start on 5 October.
We told you yesterday how Kimberley Walsh had revealed she had a very famous supporter.
