EastEnders Star Jake Wood Joins Strictly Come Dancing

Actor to compete with Frankie Bridge, Mark Wright, Simon Webbe and others...

Jake Wood has become the newest contestant named as taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC has been drip-feeding announcements about this year's series to us over the last couple of weeks - building anticipation for the new series which starts next month.

Wood has played womaniser Max Branning for eight years - and the 42-year-old father of two says he's doing it for the dads.

"I'm really relishing the prospect of hitting the Strictly dance floor this year," he said.

"I'm doing it for all the dads out there and you never know, there's always a chance of being the first Walford resident to take home the Glitterball. Bring it on!"

Pop star Frankie Bridge, TV presenter Alison Hammond, Blue singer Simon Webbe, Essex boy Mark Wright, Andy Murray's mum Judy and Casualty star Sunetra Sarker have all previously been announced.
