Tony Jacklin First Out Of Strictly Come Dancing
Golfer's performance judged below par as he loses dance-off...
The golfer and his professional partner Aliona Vilani had faced Julien Macdonald and partner Janette Manrara in the dance off - performing a charleston to It Don't Mean A Thing (If Ain't Got That Swing) by Chantz.
However all four judges decided that Macdonald's tango was superior and elected to keep the fashion designer in the contest.
When the vote had already been decided by the other three judges, Len Goodman told Jacklin: "Tony you've been one of my golfing heroes all of my life. Sadly I have to say I would have gone with Julien and Janette, but you're still one of my heroes."
Jacklin said afterwards: "I'm a tough pupil. Aliona is a wonderful teacher. I'm going to stick to golf I think. I have enjoyed myself, it's been a glimpse into another world which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
"I had no concept of the work that goes into this, and the work ethic that these girls have. I did my best."
The show resumes next Saturday with "love week".
