Ones To Watch | Cassandra Verity Green
Enter into the world of Stratford's kaleidoscope inspired, rudegirl designer. Taste her rainbow.
Investing everything she had in perfecting each hand crafted piece that was included in her final graduate collection, the hard work and talent that was poured into Cassandra Verity Green's first season was something else. Full of energy and infatuated by life, this Hamsptead Heath born girl is wholeheartedly inspired by her Grandmother, a former beauty Queen and style icon. Bagging up her pet goldfish, who usually live a quiet life in her kitchen, Cassandra controversially showcased her aquatic friends on the runway this season, utilised as an orange accessory swimming inside a perspex backpack. Fun and practical, right? A lover of nightlife, Cassandra's outfits are always on-point - a fan of hella gel curls and the chola aesthetic - Cassandra fronts a seriously sexy attitude but is also kind, sweet and the best company to hang with. District MTV headed over to her street to sit on the wall, watch the world go by and catch some rays.
MTV: Wow it's hot, how are keeping cool right now?

MTV: A bedroom tells you a lot about a person. Can you describe it to us?
CVG: Right now there are my animal x-rays l position to block out the light, my collection of bouncy balls on my windowsill, an old painting of a boat at sea, too many clothes and my very loved giant Lava Lamp.
MTV: When you were younger what posters decorated your walls?
CVG: I can't stress enough how much l loved the Spice Girls. I had over 200 posters and cut-outs of them on my walls. I was obsessed with Scary Spice and cried all day when Geri left the band.
MTV: Who is your current muse?
CVG: A combination of Tilda Swinton and Grace Jones.
MTV: What was the name of your first goldfish and tell me about the first day you met him/her and brought him/her home?
CVG: Babatunde(him) and Milkshake(her) were my first goldfish, I met them in December last year, it was a wonderful day! I made their tank into a replica of a swimming pool, complete with diving board and ladder, and lots of plants to hide and play in.
MTV: Can you name a track that means the most to you, from a specific time in your life, and describe what that piece of music represents?
CVG: Hotel California by The Eagles, which I've funnily enough just been listening to. My dad lives in Australia now, I don't get to see him or my brothers that much. It brings back fond memories of dancing around the garden with him in the summer when I was a bambino.
MTV: What are the most worn items in you wardrobe?
CVG: A cow-print halter bra top, she's my favourite!
MTV: What are your favourite charity shops in London?
CVG: I love the charity shops near my mum's house in Golders Green, and the shops in Hastings Old Town.
MTV: What other young designers labels are you into right now?
CVG: Nasir Mazhar's last collection was so amazing! I interned for him last year and love his work!
MTV: Where can you mostly be found on the weekends and what do you get up to after dark?
CVG: I've just discovered a pool hall at the end of my road in Stratford that's open till 4am and plays amazing old school R&B. Pretty sure l'm gonna be there every weekend from now on.
MTV: What is your definitive memory of MTV?
CVG: MTV cribs, l loved it as a kid, how you had an insight into famous peoples houses. I loved the shows with Missy Elliot and Mariah in the bath.
MTV: What is the best pop video costume of all time?
CVG: My favourite music video is Sade - No Ordinary Love. She's wearing a shiny mermaid tail!
