A-List Celebs at a Merseyside home, Jessicas public gaff and for The Kooks its all about the music
The Sugababes, Westlife, Will Young, Charlotte Church - it reads like the line up of an A-list celebrity West End bash, but it was in fact the guestlist of Merseysiders Ray and Lisa Smith who were throwing a little Christmas knees up!
Property tycoon and super Dad Ray spent 1.5 million on the big bash at his home in Formby, including renting a giant snow machine for his garden.
An onlooker told The Sun It was like a premiere.
US singer Lionel Richie took the top billing, though the party didnt run All Night Long, as the doors were shut at 3:30 last night.
Bet theres a few bad heads around Formby today!
Across the pond, Jessica Simpson made the gaff to end all gaffs when she forgot the lyrics to Dolly Partons classic '9 till 5' while playing at a tribute concert for the country star herself!
The young pretender fled the stage in floods of tears after realising she hadnt done her homework and couldnt go on, leaving a bemused audience " which included US president George W Bush and Dolly herself " in a shocked silence.
After clips of the blunder began appearing on the internet, the ever lovable Dolly leapt to Jesss defence.
She is reported in The Sun as saying: "Jessica is so talented that I'm sure that someday they will be paying tribute to her and I would be honoured to perform - but I'll probably be so nervous that I'll forget my wig." Bless!
A group whove decided to take some decisive action to ensure tiredness and bad hangovers dont mean they forget their lyrics are The Kooks who are quitting the high life to sober up while they record their new album.
The Brighton boys have had a whirlwind few years, and are undeniably one of the success stories of 2006, but front man Luke Pritchard says hes keen to resolve the issues that led them to cancel important gigs last month.
He told The Star today that although he had tonsillitis at the time, it was the day-to-day routine that really took its toll.
My voice is fine, but coming back to touring and getting on the bus every night after the show is where it gets hammered. Were 21, and everyone our age likes a drink but its not why were here.
One of the main things for us to try to keep it about the music. Well do whatever comes naturally and spontaneously. We could do anything " we could turn into a thrash metal band.
The Kooks? Thrash metal? Lets hope, since the drying off period hasnt started yet, that thats the drink talking
