Hollywood is full of method actors. Whether starving themselves, fattening themselves up, becoming introverted, extroverted, or spitting mad rap verses (looking at you, Joaquin Phoenix), some thespians go that extra mile to prepare for the role.

Well, you’ll have heard all about Jared Leto’s on-set shenanigans as The Jokerduring the shooting of Suicide Squad. Yep, anal beads and used condoms have become ubiquitous with the forthcoming Warner Bros. feature, and all thanks to the 30 Seconds To Mars frontman’s Joker.

But Leto has finally opened up over those dirty little rumours, and given some explanations as to why he did such… horrible things.

Speaking to E! News at CinemaCon, Leto said: "I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there"

"The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries."

Check and check. But did the Dallas Buyers Club star succeed in his mission?

Killer Croc actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, said: “It was a good gift because it had the effect of unifying us as a group because then it became us against him. We sent the messenger back with the dead pig and our own personalized message. It got the ball rolling."

…WOW…

We’ll have to wait and see whether all this disgusting back-and-forth was worth it, but no matter what, we can’t wait to see Suicide Squad!
