See Jared Leto As The Joker In First Official Image From Suicide Squad

Star breaks from the past with punky new look for supervillain...

No, that's not Keith Flint from The Prodigy - it's Jared Leto's new interpretation of iconic DC Comics villain The Joker.

The first official image of the star from David Ayer's Suicide Squad sees the 30 Seconds To Mars frontman and Oscar-winning actor put a punk rock spin on Batman's nemesis.

The baddie's iconic green hair has been trimmed short and he sports a variety of tattoos including a jester's head and a whole lotta "hahaha".

Director Ayer captioned the shot: "The Suicide Squad wishes you a Happy Anniversary Mr. J!"

The image was released yesterday to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the villain's first appearance in print.

Due out next August, the film also stars Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis.
