The third Captain America movie is reportedly set to go up against Batman Vs Superman at the box office.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that the Marvel Studios threequel - which was confirmed this week - is slated to open on 6 May 2016.

It is thought that the date had previously been set by Marvel, but then the Man Of Steel sequel was pushed back to the same day.

However Marvel exec Kevin Feige declared this week that the studio would not flinch from the box office battle.

He said: "We're certainly keeping the date there."

Captain America: The Winter Solider opens in the UK on 28 March - and had its premiere in the US yesterday.
