Susan Boyle’s debut album I Dreamed A Dream looks set to be the fastest selling album of 2009- beating acts like Cheryl Cole and Robbie Williams.

According to HMV the record sold an astonishing 150,000 copies in its first day of release and could shift up to 400,000 before the charts are revealed on Sunday.

Sales are apparently even higher in Scotland where the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up is from.

Boyle has been mobbed whilst promoting the record in the US.

Arriving in New York at the weekend hundreds of fans had turned out to greet her.

Appearing on The Today Show she revealed fame had made her “grow up a bit.” Susan added that she had “become more of a lady.”
