Swedish House Mafia - 'Until Now' First Listen!
EXCLUSIVE! We check out SHM's farewell LP right here...
Swedish House Mafia stunned the music world when they announced their split, but the dance megastars are leaving fans on a high with their farewell album Until Now.
Just like their last-ever UK show in July when they turned Milton Keynes Bowl into the biggest nightclub on the planet, Until Now begins with their huge hit Greyhound which is guaranteed to get your blood pumping.
Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso are soon shining individually, with Axwell’s remix of In My Mind followed by Ingrosso’s collaboration with fellow Swede Alesso and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder - who provides an amazing vocal performance on their track Calling (Lose My Mind).
And the compilation flows from banger to banger without any pauses for breath, with the Swedish trio bowing out at the top of their game.
SHM give Usher’s Euphoria an extended dub and remix Coldplay’s Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, while their Knife Party team-up Antidote is a true bass anthem.
John Martin’s vocals feature on their fantastic new single Don’t You Worry Child (currently setting the pace in the UK midweeks) and we hear him sing again on the album’s final track Save the World.
“This is the end of the road,” Axwell told MTV News when we interviewed SHM this summer. “So if we are the most proud at the end of the road then that’s the best.”
Final Thought: Swedish House Mafia have produced a compilation showcasing why they are the most respected and spectacular dance act in the world. EDM fans will be gutted to see them go their separate ways and return to being solo stars, but this album leaves everyone in no doubt that together they are invincible.
MTV.co.uk verdict: 8/10
Until Now is released on 19th October.
