Sly Stallone Will Play A “Key” Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

Amid the many, many nuggets of superhero gold uncovered at this weekend’s Comic-Con was the brilliantly WTF moment during the Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 footage, when everybody asked their neighbour, “wait… was that Sylvester Stallone?”
Well, not only was that Sly himself, but according to James Gunn, he’ll have more than just a cameo appearance. “It's a very, very key, important role,” says the director. “It's not a huge role. He's a great and key supporting actor.”
Meanwhile, Gunn has revealed some more new additions to the cast by posting an Instagram pic of the nine villainous Ravagers, the mercenary posse headed up by Michael Rooker’s Yondu. However, this time around they’ll be striking out on their own, turning on their former leader and causing trouble for the Guardians…

They’ll also be joined by Kurt Russell, who was recently confirmed would be playing Star-Lord’s father, the catchily-named Ego the Living Planet. As you might have guessed, he’s an actual planet, grown sentient. And he has a moustache. Good to see the franchise is as weird as ever, then…
Directed by Gunn and co-starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 will open in the UK on 28 April 2017.
