Take That For X Factor

The lads will mentor acts on Cowell's talent show...

Take That will appear on this year’s X Factor, it has been reported.

The boys, with Robbie Williamsback in the fold, have been persuaded to appear on the ITV show by X Factorboss Simon Cowell, pipping rival talent contest Strictly Come Dancingto the post.

The band last appeared on X Factor in 2008 as a four-piece. Robbie re-launched his solo career on the show last year and also performed his hit Olly Mursin the final.

Now reunited as a five-piece, the Back For Good singers will mentor contestants in the new series, and are also expected to perform their comeback single, The Flood, on a Sunday night results show.

A source from the show told the Daily Star: "X Factor has landed the ultimate trophy by getting Take That. We know the BBC wanted them for Strictly but we have beaten them to it.

“If the boys had gone for Strictly, they'd have been singing while a bunch of dancers pranced around them on the show,” the source added. “At least with X Factor they can use their musical expertise to help the acts.”
