Take That Take Back Musical
Take That have withdrawn their backing for a musical based on a tribute band...
Originally, Never Forget, a musical based on a Take That tribute band, seemed like a good idea. Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst was brought in for the story, Gary Barlow would write the music and Mama Mia and We Will Rock You would have some new West End competition.
Then, overnight, Take That went super-nova and the musical went out of the window.
Despite this, the producers have planned a tour and they put the tickets out for sale yesterday (March 14) - the show must go on, as they say!
Producer Tristan Baker has confirmed that though "the band are currently not involved ... the door is always open.
Despite this very generous offer, the group are considering their legal position, and have said on their website that the "production is absolutely and 100% nothing to do with Take That."
According to the BBC, the show will still be featuring a bunch of classics, including Relight My Fire, Pray, Back for Good and Babe, though we don't imagine you'll be finding so much of Barlow's chart topping new material in there.
But you never know, with Take That fever being at an all time high, with a little Patience, this musical may still Shine
