Tame Impala Bring All The Feels To Citadel Festival 2018
Tame Impala, CHVRCHES, Fat White Family and MORE took over London's Gunnersbury Park for the 2018 Citadel Festival...
This year’s Citadel Festival was special in many ways, the main reason being that it was Tame Impala’s only UK festival date, and boy did they deliver.
Fans of the band have been left waiting for new music for almost three years now and this didn’t go unmentioned by the Australian five piece. During the set frontman Kevin Parker acknowledged that the last album they released was 2015's Currents as he noted how humbled he was to see so many people still showing up to see them.
He also mentioned the added pressure of being asked to headline a festival - especially one in the UK where the crowds are notoriously special. However, they shouldn’t have worried because the reception they received to every single song on their set list was one of warmth. If anything, their set at Citadel has made us even MORE excited for the next Tame Impala album, and hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to hear it.
The band performed a set list comprised of their best work spanning across all three of their studio albums including fan favourites ‘Elephant’, ‘The Less I Know The Better’ and ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ - the latter of which being performed in their encore.
Tame Impala are a band that bring ALL the feels when they perform, with their lyrics of love and loss paired with the beautiful sunset over Gunnersbury Park, we certainly felt #blessed to be part of such a magical night.
Also on the Citadel line-up were Glaswegian synth-pop favourites CHVRCHES. They performed on the main stage with front woman Lauren Mayberry’s infectious energy getting the crowd going during fan favourites such as ‘The Mother We Share’ and ‘Recover’.
Other highlights from the line-up included Fat White Family, The Horrors, Isaac Gracie and one of the most exciting new bands out there at the moment, Shame. Swipe through our gallery below to see all the pics from the sun-dripped Sunday in Gunnersbury park…
