Tanya Burr Just Landed Her Debut Theatre Role And Fans Are Freaking Out

Is there anything Tanya Burr can't lend her hand to?

YouTube star and budding actress Tanya Burr has announced she’ll be making her stage debut in just a matter of months, starring in Judy Upton’s Confidence at Southwark Playhouse.

Swapping the beauty hauls for the slightly terrifying prospect of performing in front of a huge crowd, the 28-year-old will play Ella, a hustler who is looking for a way out of the seaside town she’s stuck in.

The show will run from May 23 - June 16and will mark Tanya’s first venture into the bright lights of the West End, following her previous acting credits which includes pilot series Making It and forthcoming short film Disconnect.

"If you’re not interested in earning a new pair of Nikes by the end of the day… complete designer wardrobe by the end of the week… all the beers you can drink… if you don’t want to meet Uma Thurman… then okay, stay here, as king of the slackers, that’s fine by me," says Ella.

If you're still not sure what the whole thing's about, director Rob Drummer explains: "Rediscovering Judy's play in the context of 2018 and looking at the legacy of '90s youth culture is an exciting prospect. In the hedonism of the '90s and the changing tide of political optimism did young people get what they want?

“For a new generation now, we want to see what has changed and why instilling confidence in young people to take up space and have a voice matters more than ever."

Meanwhile the announcement has caused her fans to do all they can to get their hands on a pair of tickets, with one dedicated subscriber planning on travelling all the way from Vienna to see it. No pressure or anything, TB.

Confidence, produced by Boundless Theatre, is at Southwark Playhouse from May 23 to June 16.
