What if Robin Hood was less like a moustachioed English gent in green tights, and more like Hawkeye? That seems to be the question posed by the latest Robin Hood reboot, with Taron Egerton starring as arguably the most badass incarnation of the famous outlaw ever to flex his bow on the big screen.

Directed by Peaky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst, the new film reimagines Robin Hood as a returning crusader, who discovers England in the grip of a corrupt regime and decides to stir up a rebellion. He even has the whole Bruce Wayne alter-ego thing down, wooing Eve Hewson’s Maid Marion with his “Robin of Loxley” identity. And exploding arrows? Yeah, he’s got those too…

Yep, this one looks totally OTT, and we are very much on board with it. Throw in a scowling Ben Mendelsohn, a brooding Jamie Dornan and Jamie Foxx on Wise Mentor duties, and this one looks like a whole bunch of fun.

Robin Hood will be robbing from the rich and giving to the poor from 23 November 2018, when the new film lands in UK cinemas.
