Calvin Harris Kicks Off At Ex-Girlfriend Taylor Swift (Really Nicely) After She Confirms She Wrote His Track With Rihanna
Calvin Harris unleashes at ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift after her rep confirms She DID Write Calvin Harris And Rihanna Track This Is What You Came For - and there was proof all along. Did it cause the Talvin breakup though? Full story at MTV.co.uk
Hold onto your hair extensions as the world of celeb romance just got even messier. Yep, as if Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris's break up wasn't confusing enough, he's now taken to Twitter to (very politely) call out as his ex-girlfriend following her rep confirming that she did indeed write his new single with Rihanna - that's This Is What You Came For - after it was originally kept a big old secret from us all.
Well, we say 'very politely' but there is a glaring reference to her long-rumoured feud with Katy Perry in there, so it's clearly not all flowers and roses any more.
While Calvin and Taylor might have been pretty in lurrvvve just eight weeks ago, the newsthen broke that Talvin had split after 15 months together and it all seemed very mature and civil. Time passed and just a few weeks later Calvin started posting Snapchats of himself partying with loads of ladies and, as we all know, Taylor's new relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston was revealed.
But now things are getting messy and following all sorts of rumours about the track, Taylor's rep today decided to confirm to People Magazine that she did indeed write Calvin's single that features Rihanna.
In the story posted today, the reps confirm that Taylor wrote a demo of the song on the piano and recorded it as a voice note on her iPhone, something she has previously been known to do when songwriting, and which she then sent to her then boyfriend, Cavin. They allegedly didn't want to release the song together because of the pressure and media attention it would add to their relationship, so instead Calvin took it to release with Rihanna.
"Taylor Swift wrote 'This Is What You Came For' under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg," Taylor's official spokesperson confirmed in a statement to the mag.
But while her involvement in the track was kept a secret, there were hints that she had a bit of an invested interest in the song all along, including some of the 'oohs' used on the track that sound like her voice (and have now been confirmed to be her) and the fact that she wore the single artwork on a jacket at Coachella before the song had even been officially announced.
However, Calvin clearly isn't over the moon about the way the news Taylor was involved in the track has come out and after keeping schtum about the split, he has now taken to Twitter to share a few thoughts from his own perspective.
Unleashing in a stream of actually tweets, he kept things mature and quoted the article with People, adding: "And she sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual."
But it doesn't end there and he then dropped a few truth bombs including an awkward nod to her feud with Katy Perry, saying: "I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.
"Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," he continues. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.
"I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it"
And then for the final sassy nail painting emoji: "Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you've earned a great one."
There is potentially a little more to the story and if you're wondering why Taylor would reveal her involvement in the Rihanna song now, TMZ allege that it is part of the reason she and Calvin broke up. It's not been officially confirmed, but a source tells them that their relationship hit a bad patch and eventually ended after Calvin categorically said he'd never worked with Taylor nor had thought about it during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.
"You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though," he told Ryan during the interview promoting the very same single Taylor was actually involved with in secret.
Apparently this was days before the Met Gala - when Taylor famously met and danced with new boyf Tom Hiddleston - so it seems like that could've been a factor too.
