Jake Gyllenhaal Refuses To Talk About Taylor Swift In Incredibly Awkward Interview
We're hiding under the table again.
It must be a well known fact by now that if you’re famous and you date Taylor Swift, you’re going to be asked about it for the rest of your life.
Only Jake Gyllenhaal is refusing for that to be the case for him, as he makes it abundantly clear in a recent interview he’s a private guy, ok?
Chatting to The Guardian, the reporter innocently enquires as to whether Jake would call himself “intensely private”.
"I'm not necessarily guarded, but I consider intimacy to be very important and I don't think everybody needs to know about my family or my personal details. I’m old-school in that way," Jake replied.
However the interviewer didn’t quite agree, following up with the fact that if this were true, then why did he date Taylor back in 2010? After all she is, as the journalist said, “renowned for using past relationships as source material in her songs”.
"I think when you're in a relationship, you are constantly scrutinized, your friends are scrutinized, but..." Jake responded. What followed was, according to the writer, a long moment during which Jake just "stare[d]" at him before shrugging.
But the writer wasn’t stopping there, continuing his line of questioning by asking if he’d ever listened to any of Taylor’s songs which are about him.
"More silence. The atmosphere has become uncomfortably tense," they wrote.
Then when asked if he’d like to change subject, Jake responded: "I would love to not talk about my personal life." Well isn’t that just the definition of awkward turtle?
