Taylor Swift: Chris Martin Inspired Me To Do The Voice USA

Pop star reveals the reason she decided to say yes to TV talent show...

If you're salivating at the prospect of seeing Taylor Swift mentoring the hopefuls on The Voice USA, you might like to say "thank you" to Chris Martin.

It turns out the Coldplay singer was Swifty's main motivation for accepting the invitation to appear as a guest mentor on the hugely popular NBC show.

She told E! News: "I'd seen that Chris Martin had done it and Chris is one of my favourite frontman of one of my favourite bands.

"So I went and researched what he had done…and when they reached out to me, I thought you had to watch people and tell them whether they're good or bad and it's not that at all.

"It's much more interesting and fun and kind of freestyle than that. So I'm having the best time!"

The 24-year-old star will be working with contestants chosen by all four of the coaches on the show: Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

And she also told E! how likely we are to see her doing a collaborative project with each of the coaches.

"Pharrell and I were definitely talking about hopping in the studio at some point," she revealed.

"Gwen I would work with in a minute...Blake Shelton and Adam Levine I would do something comedic with. That's more of like a, 'We really need to do something on SNL', like a skit."

T-Swift's new album 1989 is set for release next week.
