Taylor Swift Donates $250k To Kesha As Demi Lovato Hits Out At The Star

Can she live?

On Friday (February 19), Kesha’s appeal to be released from her Sony recording contract with accused abuser Dr Luke was denied by a New York judge.

And while it seemed the world had united in the #FreeKesha campaign, people weren’t happy with Taylor Swift and her lack of social support for the star.

WELL, it’s now been revealed that Taylor has donated $250,000 to Kesha in light of everything that’s happened – yet that still doesn’t see to be enough for some people.

Kesha’s mother was the one to share the news, tweeting: “Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000 to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time. AMAZING!!”

This was then confirmed by a spokesperson for the singer (who is known to keep these types of gestures private), but fellow pop star Demi Lovato isn’t too happy about it all.

Demi has been very vocal about Kesha’s plight on Twitter, but while it started off as simple support, it quickly seemed to turn into a jab at Taylor.

Her tweets included: “I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights…

“Women empowerment is taking action now, not when it's convenient.”

Then, after seemingly hearing the news that Taylor had donated to Kesha, she added: “Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed.”

HMMMM.

Surprisingly, none of this went down too well with Tay’s fans, who soon slammed Demi on Instagram.

But Demi didn’t let it lie, as she then responded to claims she was making the situation about herself, explaining: “How the f**k am I making it about myself?… Not everyone has 250k to just give to people.

“Would love to but I didn’t grow up with money and def haven’t made as much as her.

“There’s no ‘rivalry’, I just give more f**ks than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person.”

OK, we know that Demi’s heart is in the right place here, but hitting out at Taylor for trying to do something nice isn’t cool.

All together now… feminism isn’t a competition.
