A Woman Escaped Her Kidnapper With The Help Of Her Phone's Location Feature

This is chilling.

A woman managed to escape her kidnapper with the help of a mobile phone after she was quick-thinking enough to send an SOS message to her boyfriend alongside her exact location.

Jaila Gladden relayed the incident to BuzzFeed News – explaining that she was in the parking lot of a convenience store when a man forced her into a car with the threat of a knife.

The kidnapper began driving in the direction of Atlanta, before allegedlypulling over and sexually assaulting her. Jaila'sopportunity for escape came when the man began driving again and needed directions towards a gas station.

Jaila talked him into letting her use her phone, which is whenshe quickly contacted her boyfriend with the word “kidnapped” before using the maps feature to drop her exact location in the message.

Police were able to track down Jaila using the pinned mapshe’d sent her boyfriend – and have since charged a man named Timothy Wilson with kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, rape, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, and aggravated assault against a police officer.

Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Jaila’s boyfriend Tamir Bryant credited the college student with “outsmarting the bad guy” while a police spokesperson said: “If this victim did not have her phone and did not think quickly she may not have been as lucky.”
