Teen Mom OG’s Tyler Baltierra Speaks Up About His Struggle With Depression
He opened up on a recent episode.
Teen Mom OG star Tyler Baltierra has bravely opened up about his battle with depression, and revealed that he attempted suicide when he was only 12-years-old.
Tyler, who married Catelynn Lowell in August last year, spoke about his struggle in a recent episode in the show, and told his father, Butch, that he felt as if he had no reason to go on.
“I was a depressed kid”, Tyler explained. “I had to walk around school with rope burns around my neck for two weeks. You went back [to prison], Mom was always working all the time, I was getting suspended from school and I was like, ‘There is no point to go on anymore’".
He’s also said he regrets his decision to leave his depression and suicide attempt out of his and Catelynn’s memoir, Conquering Chaos, so it’s no surprise he’s spoken up about it now.
Huge respect to Tyler for being open about his mental health - male suicide rates are over four times higher than women, often due to young men feeling ashamed to talk about their problems. Check out our article on this very topic here.
