The 1975 are writing a track for One Direction, after the ID boys approached them to pen a song for their new album.
Speaking to Digital Spy at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Glasgow, frontman Matty Healy said he’d been in the studio with Niall Horan to start work on a new track for the lads' next record.
"I went into the studio with them and we started to work on one track," Healy said.
"They were asked to list who they wanted to work with on the next album, and we were one of the people they chose."
Asked if the ID boys approached them after The 1975 covered their debut hit What Makes You Beautiful last year, Healy replied: "Oh yeah, they referenced it a lot.
"There was that guy on The X Factor called Luke [Friend] who did our version as his cover, and I think that's how it was brought to their attention.
"They are big fans of the album and they supported us by tweeting, which sent our fan base sky-rocketing."
The 1975 and One Direction both played Radio 1's Big Weekend this weekend. Katy Perry, Coldplay, Kasabian and Kings of Leon also performed at the event.
