Sony Denies Spider-Man Will Be In Avengers 3

Studio pours cold water on rumours of movie crossover...

Sorry Spider-Fans, but it looks as if the rumours about everyone's favourite webslinger teaming up with the Avengers are just wishful thinking.

Sony Pictures has officially denied that plans are afoot for Spider-Man to put in an appearance in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War - which will be the third movie in the franchise.

Latino Review had claimed that a deal was being brokered for a new actor to play Spidey in the two-part follow-up to Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

But Sony has now told Comic Book Review that it's an "old rumor" with "no validity whatsoever".

Marvel's comic book properties are currently divided between Sony, 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios - with Sony and Fox holding the rights to Spider-Man and X-Men respectively.
