The 23-year-old nice guy heard Lord Sugar call closing time on his chances of winning after the team he was leading lost the beer task due to a series of problems.

He had been put in charge of the ladies' team by Lord Sugar after an outburst in the boardroom at the end of the previous night's episode - but his leadership-by-consensus style failed to impress the tycoon.

He was sent packing despite a blunder by Francesca MacDuff-Varley with the beer flavouring which cost them more than £100 and the selection of inappropriate retail locations which was attributed by most of the team to Rebecca Slater.

And Rebecca's clashes with Uzma Yakoob and others - and posh Jason Leech's rows with his team mates made for an ill-tempered episode.

Jason rubbed Zeeshan Shah and Alex Mills up the wrong way with an erratic negotiating technique - which led to another confrontation in the boardroom and the promise of more strife to follow.

Jaz Ampaw-Farr was sent home in the first episode on Tuesday night.
