Fired Duane: 'I Regret Defending Laura'
Sacked Apprentice candidate says he tried to be 'honourable''...
The contestant who last night became the fifth candidate to be fired in this year's series of The Apprenticehas said he regrets being too nice in the boardroom.
Duane Bryan got the heave-ho after being taken back into the boardroom by project manager Ricky Martin (no, not that Ricky Martin), having been blamed over poor implementation of the fitness video task.
He said afterwards: "Maybe I'm too much of a nice guy. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But I shouldn't have defended Laura looking back, and especially when I saw her reaction when I'd got in the taxi.
"I knew that she knew what she was doing. She was more experienced than me in that scenario."
Duane had supported Laura Hogg in the boardroom and told Lord Sugar that Ricky should be fired, despite the project manager's strong performance in the sale pitches.
But the gloves were off when Duane was interviewed on the subject after the show was aired.
He said: "It was a nightmare because she didn't want to be told. She had her own way, she had her own idea and she wanted to do it the way she wanted.
"And when you didn't go with what she was suggesting she would have a face on her, she would demotivate the other guys. It was quite difficult to work with Laura."
The team had been the surprise losers in the fitness class task.
And Duane managed to stay upbeat after his sacking, saying: "Lord Sugar knows what he wants and unfortunately this time it wasn't me.
"That's not going to take anything away from me, I've got a lot to give, a lot to prove and I'm going to go out there and do that. I'm hoping that you've not seen the best of me yet."
Jane McEvoy was fired in last week's show.
