Here's Who Will Replace Ben Affleck As Director Of 'The Batman' Movie
With Ben Affleck having vacated the director’s chair last month, DC has bagged a replacement helmer for The Batman, with Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves set to head up the Dark Knight’s new solo movie.
It’s a bit of a surprise as talks between studio and director had reportedly broken down just a week ago, but it looks like everything’s now been sorted, with Reeves sounding hyped to put his stamp on DC’s main man. “I have loved the Batman story since I was a child,” said the director. “He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen."
However, Bat-Fleck fans will be pleased to hear the film’s leading man isn’t going anywhere, with Warner confirming he’s still attached to play Bruce Wayne. As Affleck said when he stepped down as director, “I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.” So that’s a relief.
Co-starring Joe Manganiello and J.K. Simmons, The Batman is expected to open at some point in 2018, with an exact release date yet to be revealed.
