Disney Drops A New Trailer For The BFG & It Will Make You Feel All The Feels
Here be giants!
Strap in for some Class A nostalgia kids, because Disney has revealed a shiny new trailer for The BFG, Steven Spielberg’s CGI-tastic adaptation of everyone’s favourite Roald Dahl story (Wonka aside, obvs).
It’s probably been a while since you read it, so just to recap, the titular Big Friendly Giant (played here by newly minted Oscar-winner, Mark Rylance) is a rarity in the giant community, in that he refuses to eat children. Instead, he sets about making sure they have good dreams, which we can all agree is much nicer.
The story begins when the BFG befriends a lonely child named Sophie, and whisks her off to the magical kingdom of Giant Country. But our gentle hero isn’t the only one who lives there, with the charmingly-named Bloodbottler, Childchewer and Meatdripper all hungry for more kids to scoff down…
Check out the new trailer, below.
Quite frankly, Spielberg and Dahl look like a match made in heaven, with the legendary director bringing Giant Country to life in spectacular style.
Meanwhile, Rylance has totally nailed the BFG’s bumbling charm – if you’re gonna be abducted in the middle of the night by a massive hand snaking through your window, you’d probably want him to be on the other end of it.
Co-starring the likes of Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall and Bill Hader, The BFG will come stomping into cinemas on 22 July 2016.
