The Brit Awards 2012 Launch: MTV Gets The Gossip!
EXCLUSIVE | We spoke to the nominees on the red carpet at the event..
Ed Sheeran told us on the red carpet: "I’m shocked to be honest. I’m surprised with Best Album, I’m really happy with that and to be recognised is wonderful.”
The ginger-haired star - who performed track JLSare also up for the Best Single gong for Dev duet, Professor Green, who said: "I’ve got some stiff competition in Best Male. It’s brilliant just to be nominated. I’ve only released two albums and practically I’m only in the second year of my mainstream career, so being up for a Brit is massive.
When asked how he reacted to the nod, Green claimed: "When I found out I actually went back to sleep! I don’t get many nights off and I’d had a really big night out and I had a phone call in the morning which I didn’t really want to answer, but when I woke up again a few hours later the news really sank in.”
Green had nothing but praise for Emeli Sande, adding:"She’s massively deserving and she’ll go on to huge things. 2012 is going to be Emeli Sande’s year.”
Speaking of her win on the red carpet, Sande - who also performed at the bash - revealed:“It’s amazing, I’m over the moon. This is the biggest thing in British music so it’s incredible to win the Critics’ Choice award and nominated in other categories.”
Last year's Critics' Choice winner Jessie J- who was on hand to present Emeli with her trophy at the launch - is also nominated for three Brits, but the Essex girl revealed that she's only got her eye on one prize.
TheAdele has been everywhere this year and smacked it, she’s brilliant and I’m so proud of her.
"I’d love to see Adele perform again this year and after all of her voice troubles go ‘I can still do it!’, but everyone’s going to be out of their seats supporting each other during the performances. I’ll be on my seat, I’m hardcore!”
