Charlatans Shine in Cardiff
READER REVIEW: What a way to spend a Saturday night!
Saturday, November 25 @ Cardiff University
Its a rare treat for fans to see the Charlatans tour get as far as Cardiff (usually they reach Newport and then head back to England!) so the anticipation and excitement are immense.
Support from Longcut warms the stage nicely for Tim Burgess as he swaggers out to launch into 'Forever'. His charm is as strong as ever, some of the girls at the front would have fainted if they weren't so squashed against the barriers! The crowd are treated to the new, almost dance version of 'You're So Pretty, We're So Pretty which goes down a storm.
However, when the band play 'My Beautiful Friend' they revert back to the original, softer rendition (which I prefer). In fact, the Charlatans shine throughout the evening. This tour is a real chance to resurrect the impressive catalogue of singles that they have belted out over the years.
The highlight of the gig is arguably 'One To Another' and the powerhouse of 'Sproston Green' which closes every show spectacularly.
If anybody out there thought that a Singles Tour signified the demise of the Charlatans, then they are very, very wrong!
Whether you've seen them ten times before or this will be your first - get a ticket while you can!
