Stars Pay Tribute To The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan's Death

The lead singer of the iconic rock band has died...

Rock icon Dolores O'Riordan has died at the age of 46.

Tributes arepouring in for the legendary rock star who was the lead singer of Irish band The Cranberries,one of the biggest rock bands ofthe 1990s.

Thanks to her rebellious style, dinstictive voice and powerful songwriting, Dolores helped to define an era with songs like 'Dreams', 'Linger' and, of course, 'Zombie'.

The Cranberries announced the tragic news in a statement last night, saying "The world has lost a true artist today."

"We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores.She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries."

Dolores had reportedly arrived in London for a recording session with the rest of the band, who were scheduled to re-record 'Zombie'with Bad Wolves.

The American band revealed the news of her passing came "mere hours before she was to record vocals on our upcoming version of 'Zombie'."

Hozier described hearing O'Riordan's voice as "unforgettable", commenting that "it threw into question what a voice could sound like in that context of Rock.I'd never heard somebody use their instrument in that way."

Meanwhile, Duran Duran said they were "crushed to hear the news about the passing of Dolores", sending their condolences to the star's family.
