Street Named After The Darkness

The Darkness are to have a street named after them in their hometown.
Councillors in Lowestoft, Norfolk, want to honour Justin Hawkins and his band for their recent worldwide success.
"I have suggested that we name a road after them because three of the band, including Justin, are from Lowestoft," Waveney District Councillor Wendy Mawer explained. "I don't think Darkness Close would be very popular but I am keen on Hawkins Close or Hawkins Way. Their agent has told us they would be absolutely honoured."
Councillor Mawer continued: "I feel that we should do something to celebrate their success. The band has always loudly proclaimed that they come from Lowestoft. We are trying to regenerate the area and anything that adds to this has to be positive. They are icons for young people, especially in this area."
In other Darkness news, 13 gigs on the band's current US tour have moved to larger venues to accommodate bigger crowds.
