OMG! Elton John Is Writing A Devil Wears Prada Musical
*BOOKS TICKETS IMMEDIATELY*
You might not have noticed, but news from across the pond has been a bit… terrifying recently. However, we can always rely on good old Broadway to cheer us up, thanks to the amazing news that Elton John is writing a stage musical version of The Devil Wears Prada. Squeeeeeeeeee!
The big news came courtesy of the man himself, who said: “Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting. I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
Elton will be teaming up with playwright Paul Rudnick and super-producer Kevin McCollum, a three-time Tony Award-winner with plenty of Broadway experience in his locker. “To bring The Devil Wears Prada to the stage, we knew we needed to find artists as inimitable as the characters in the story," said McCollum. "We needed artists whose work has run the gamut from music and publishing to drama and fashion. We could only think of two names: Elton John and Paul Rudnick.”
Given that Elton’s musical track record includes mega-hits The Lion King and Billy Elliott, it sounds like we’re in for a treat. Start saving those pennies kids… Broadway’s a-calling!
