Eighties Matchbox's Anti Racism Campaign
Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are spreading the word of anti-racism by way of the world's first DVD chain letter.
During gigs on the band's UK tour this month, DVDs carrying an anti-racism message will be given out to the audience. After watching the DVD, recipients of it are urged to log onto the band's website and enter their own ideas about how to fight racism, before passing the DVD along to someone who will do the same.
Each DVD is individually numbered and its progress will be tracked on the site. The tracking will continue until February 14, at which point the person whose DVD has the longest chain will be awarded a special prize.
The DVD chain letter project " a "Global Experiment in Unity" " was partly inspired by Eighties Matchbox bassist Sym Gahrial suffering a racist attack outside a Rock Against Racism gig the band played in Stoke.
Eighties Matchbox vocalist Guy Mcknight said of the project: "If the individual doesnt take responsibility for the future of the planet, I dont know who were expecting to do it."
