Christmas with Damon Albarn!
LIVE: The former Blur man's new group bring a Dickensian vibe to East London. And Harry Enfield pops up!
Wiltons Music Hall in Whitechapel was the venue for the second live performance of The Good, The Bad & The Queen which consists of Damon Albarn, Paul Simenon (formerly of The Clash), Simon Tong (The Verve) and Tony Allen (Africa 70).
Hosted by Harry Enfield, in full music hall barker regalia, an invited audience of 300 was there to witness a great performance from Albarns latest venture. Playing most of their forthcoming album, including stand out-track 'Kingdom of Doom' twice, the band where augmented by a string section, a saw player and guest rapper.
The band were noticeably tighter than at their debut at BBCs Electric Proms and Albarn and co seemed to be enjoying themselves even asking for requests from the crowd. Although, for some reason they didnt play mtv.co.uks request for a rendition of 'Country House'. Strange, that.
