Hobbit Sequel Tops Christmas Box Office Chart

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug has held off the challenge of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues to bag the festive No 1 spot in the UK box office chart.

Peter Jackson's Middle Earth sequel is enjoying its second week as the biggest-grossing film in the country.

It took £5.3m in tickets sales compared to £4.5m for the Will Ferrell comedy sequel.

Animated movie Frozen was third with £3.9m and Walking With Dinosaurs a distant fourth on £982k.
