Peter Jackson Says Goodbye To Gandalf
Orlando Bloom also bows out but not without a bit of viral video fun...
Orlando Bloom have filmed their final scenes as Gandalf and Legolas.
The pair have played their respective roles since 1999, but have now wrapped filming for the characters' last outing in The Hobbit trilogy.
Acting legend McKellen filmed his final scene as the wizard on Friday (June 28), and posed for a photo with director Peter Jackson.
Jackson uploaded the snap to his Facebook page, writing: "Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I'm feeling very sad right now."
Following Gandalf's departure, Bloom signed off as elf Legolas, filming his final scenes on Saturday (June 29).
He went out with a bang though, joining in with 2007 viral video hit They Are Taking The Hobbits To Isengard.
Director Peter Jackson posted the video on YouTube yesterday - which totted up three million views in just 24 hours.

The second instalment of the trilogy, The Desolation Of Smaug, is due for release on December 13, with the final part, There And Back Again, scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2014.
