The Kooks' explosion onto the music scene has been one of the success stories of 2006, but front man Luke Pritchard hasn't let it go to his head.
Talking to MTV, the skinny jean-loving singer whose band's No 1 album 'Inside In/Inside Out' has been a permanent fixture in the top 20 since its release in early 2006, said, "The success is kinda bullsh*t man. It's in two worlds. You have your life which is how you wanna do it. Then you have a band that everybody knows."
The singer who's dated Katie Melua and TV presenter Fearne Cotton added, "I try not to let one affect the other, you know what I mean. We have only been famous for a very short time, not that anyone would recognise us!"
But while he's not one for the celeb lifestyle, Luke admits the band were chuffed to bits when they won the Best Newcomer EMA voted for by MTV viewers.
"I cant believe we won actually. It was unexpected because we havent played much in Europe. But its cool man. I feel like people are getting into (us).
"We've never been about winning awards. I never thought we would be that kinda band but it was voted for, which makes it much better than 4 judges sat round a table. Its actually a real award, its not fake."
