The Libertines To Headline Ibiza Rocks’ 10th Birthday

This year Ibiza Rocks are celebrating a decade of incredible Balearic performances with The Libertines headlining their 10th birthday party this July. Also announced so far in the first wave of acts for the 2015 Ibiza Rocks season include Fatboy Slim, Clean Bandit, Jungle, Years & Years, The Courteeners, Sigma (Live) and Shura.

Not only that, MTV will be hitting the White Isle for the third year running as exclusive broadcast partners to bring you highlights from the 14-week long series of live music events.

Cult heroes and music icons to a generation, The Libertines, will headline the world famous poolside Rocks stage for the hugely anticipated 10th Birthday Party on July 22.  Pete Doherty and Carl Barat have individually influenced Rocks, having played separately with Babyshambles (2005) and Dirty Pretty Things (2006) at the very start.  It was Pete’s decision to play the 500 capacity beachside Bar M (now Ibiza Rocks Bar) that took the Rocks gigs from the dark back room of the big club to the open-air beach side setting.  

Carl Barat of The Libertines said: ‘Ibiza Rocks is one of the greatest gigs there is. The strange and debauched energy of the place never fails to provide the perfect backdrop for bacchanalian reverie of the highest order. Everyone there is gonna be 'mad for it', I can't wait. One of those nights actually worth the bastard hangover. Bring it.’ 

Andy McKay, Founder & CEO of the Ibiza Rocks Group said: “The ultimate defining moment of Rocks was when we discovered that our future lay outdoors and that was the night Babyshambles played Bar M. It was the moment found our time slot before midnight and the moment we discovered the energy created by a live band playing under the stars.

“It all clicked. It was that realisation that changing the soundtrack changed absolutely everything.   By doing something that radical we skewed the whole direction of the future of Ibiza.  To be celebrating 10 years on with a headline show from The Libertines, a truly iconic rock band reunited, is going to be one hell of a seminal moment for Ibiza Rocks.  Roll on the next 10 years.”

Ibiza Rocks also recently unveiled its first major festival Croatia Rocks on the Island Of Page this July featuring appearances from the likes of The Vaccines, Rudimental, Gorgon City and more.
