Meet The Mortal Instruments' Magnus Bane!
Exclusive! Check out the High Warlock in his boxers…
MTV has had an exclusive sneak-peak behind the scenes of the forthcoming supernatural romance movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - and our guide was none other than Godfrey Gao, who plays the Brooklyn High Warlock Magnus Bane.
MTV arrived on set during Gao's first day of filming, a party scene which features the 28-year-old actor without his trousers...
"It's really cold," Godfrey said, all smiles.
"At first, I was like, 'All right, I thought this party was going to be an indoor mansion with a lot of lights and chandeliers like you see in back.
"Turns out, it's outside, and it's actually, I think, 11 degrees Celsius, so I'm just hanging out with my boxers on and everyone sees... I have great legs. But it's very fun to play Magnus Bane, as you can see."
But Gao had more than the cold to worry about, saying he feels the pressure of playing a character that is such a favourite of fans of the book.
"There's actually a really big pressure because I know there are a lot of fans out there, and everyone loves Magnus Bane, and I love Magnus Bane," he said.
Based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling young adult novel, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones follows the journey of Clary Fray (Lily Collins), a seemingly ordinary teenager who meets the mysterious Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower) and discovers that she is in fact a descendent from a long line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from assorted demons.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits UK cinemas in August 2013.
