There were so many April Fools jokes around yesterday that we weren't exactly sure who or what to believe - so when The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright announced that she was engaged to James Argent, we have to admit we were a little sceptical (though we were very hopeful that it was the real deal).

And we may have been right to approach with caution, with Lyd later revealing that her big announcement was all part of a TV show.

TOWIE’s Lydia was glowing with excitement on her Twitter on Friday (April 1), telling followers: “What the hell? I've been waiting 7 years. I thought he was joking @realjamesargent has made me the happiest girl in the world! #mrsarg”.

She then shared a photo of her wearing a shiny diamond on her finger, writing: “We're out now celebrating on a classy rooftop bar. Love the ring - it's massive and shiny just like James”, before adding a completely unrelated message about going off the pill.

However, before we could get too excited about fascinators, cheesy wedding songs and the all-important wedding buffet, Lydia wrote another message, saying that all of this was on big joke. On us.

She wrote: “If you’ve noticed strange activity today those messages weren’t me! I’ve been hacked for @itv2safeword Series 2 coming back v soon to ITV2”.

WAH. Please tell us we won't have to wait much longer for a proper engagement announcement?
