Well, the summer is kind of in full swing, so MTV News had to check out one of the best events on our summer calendar, Ibiza Rocks with Sony Ericsson.

We caught up with the Pigeon Detectives, the hotly tipped LadyHawke and the founders of the event, Andy & Dawn McKay. The Leeds likely lads kicked of this years Ibiza Rocks.

Our new VJ Laura asked the guys why they chose to take part I dont think UK festivals will ever die out but it is pretty cool to come out here, you dont get much of this in England (sunshine) and I like this! said guitarist Ryan Wilson.

After hearing good things about newcomer Ladyhawke, we had to find out what she thinks about being compared to Stevie Nicks well my music doesnt really sound like Stevie Nicks and I dont sing like but I think its because of my hair! Im ok with it, I love Stevie.

Finally, we couldnt resist getting the Pigeon Detectives, and the founders opinions on our on going debate. Is Las Vegas the new Ibiza?

Pigeon Detectives front-man Matt Bowman told us that Las Vegas could never replace the party island coincidently I was speaking to an American guy yesterday and he said hed never seen anything like Ibiza and he said that Ibiza is better than Vegas.

Ibiza Rocks Founder, Andy McKay, wasnt worried about the sunset strip Id much rather be in Ibiza than one of the myriad of new Ibizas dance music has become cool again, the new Ibiza is actually Ibiza.

Co-founder Dawn McKay continued Ibiza is so multi-faceted, it has the beaches, the beautiful scenery, great food and although Las Vegas is an entertainment capital it doesnt have all the other assets that Ibiza has.
